ABOUT SARAWAK
Sarawak also known as "Bumi Kenyalang" or Land of the Hornbill is the largest state in Malaysia, located on the southwest of Borneo Island. It is a land covered in a thicket ancient rainforest, mountains, spectacular caves, unique flora and fauna and diverse ethnic communities. Being the largest state of Malaysia, Sarawak spans over a vast area of 124,000 sq-km of land covering along the northwest coast of Borneo Island, the third largest island in the world.

THE PEOPLE
Sarawak is home to 28 ethnic groups with each having their own ways of living (culture, lifestyle and language).The major ethnic group in Sarawak is the Iban with 30.1 percent populations, followed by the Chinese, Malay, Bidayuh, Melanau, Kenyah, Kayan, Orang Ulu and other native tribes.

LANGUAGE
As the other states in Malaysia, Bahasa Melayu or Malay is the official language of Sarawak. English however is very widely spoken throughout the state as well as Chinese language dialects such as Hokkien and Mandarin.

THE WEATHER
Sarawak has a warm tropical climate throughout the year. The weather is generally dry and warm during the months of March till September and rainy seasons are from November to February. Humidity is high in Sarawak so wearing cool and comfortable clothes are the best options.
